이스라엘 예루살렘 - 우리는 드디어 다윗 왕의 후손들이자 예수 그리스도의 조상들인 유다 왕들의 무덤들을 찾았는가?
JERUSALEM, Israel - Have we finally found the royal tombs of the Kings of Judah, descendants of King David and the forefathers of Jesus Christ?
전에 아랍인 시장이 있었던 예루살렘의 옛 도시 벽 안쪽에 카톨릭 도미니컨 수도승들의 오래된 수도원이 자리하고 있다. 이곳은 스데반이 순교한 자리로 믿어지고 있기 때문에 성 스데반 수도원으로 알려져 있다.
Inside the walled, Old City of Jerusalem, past an Arab market place, stands the old Monastery of the Catholic Dominican Fathers. It is also known as the Monastery of St. Stephen as it is believed to be the site of Stephen's martyrdom.
이 고요한 수도원의 벽들은 또한 '에콜레 비브리큐'로 알려진 세계, 즉 세계에서 가장 완벽한 성경도서관을 갖춘 이들을 둘러싸고 있다.
The walls of this serene monastery also enclose the world renowned Ecole Biblique, host to possibly the most complete biblical library in the world.

Underneath the monastery, there is a flight of stairs that leads 43 feet (13 meters) underground to a burial chapel. Some of the legendary figures of biblical scholarship were buried here such as Felix M. Abel, founder of the modern geographical study of the Holy Land.

The inside of the 7th century BC catacomb which is believed to be the final resting place of the Kings of Judah, the ancestors of Jesus Christ.
그러나 이 근대 지하매장지 뒤에는 연대가 예수의 시대로 생각되는 훨씬 오래된 카타콤이 있다.
However, behind this modern burial crypt lies a much older catacomb, one that was thought to date back to the time of Jesus.
진실로 수 세기에 걸쳐 이 지하 매장실은 중요성을 그다지 인정받지 못했었다. 그러나 최근에 이루어진 고고학 조사는 그 매장동굴이 실제로 솔로몬 왕에 의해 세워진 첫 번째 성전의 때로 연대가 거슬러 올라간다는 것이 드러났다.
Indeed, throughout the ages, not much importance was attached to this chamber. But a recent archaeological survey has revealed that the burial cave actually dates back to the time of the First Temple of Jerusalem built by King Solomon.
게다가 일부 학자들은 이 카타콤이 성경에서 매우 중요한 역할을 했고, 또 예수 그리스도의 조상들인 유다 왕조의 최종안식처일 것으로 현재 믿고 있다.
Moreover, some scholars now believe that this catacomb may well be the final resting place of a dynasty which played a very significant roll in the Bible and where the royal ancestors of Jesus Christ.
무덤 내부에서 뼈들이 발견되었다. 그것들 가운데 어떤 것들은 연대가 솔로몬 왕의 성전의 때의 것으로 밝혀져 이 무덤의 뼈들이 유다 왕들의 것들일 것이리라.
Inside the tomb, bones were found. Some of them date to the time of King Solomon's Temple and may well be those of the Kings of Judah.
